Hi Derek,

Does this happen as soon as the Vi is placed on the block diagram? Does the config page load at all or does it not get that far?

Can you also post a screenshot of the error that you see?

The error happens as soon as I place the symbol.  The symbol is there and the properties are all accessible, but will not run.

I enclose word doc with error messages on.

Many thanks in anticipation

Are you still having problems?

If you haven't already tried, I would see if an uninstall and then install helps. Did you install the software from CD or did you download?

Thank you for your response.  NI had a look at the problem, and established that it was because I had made a VI using 7.1 express VIS and the imported them into Labview 8.   They are not compatible.

Thanks again

If you create a VI in LabVIEW 7.0 (or 7.1) containing the Write To Measurement File Express VI (formerly called "Write LabVIEW Measurement File") then save it and open it in LabVIEW 8.0, you should be able to open its configuration page without error.

Do you know if this error would be seen opening that VI from 7.1 on any computer, or just your one particular machine?

I'm not sure if I'm clear on what you were doing, but if this was not working for you, I'd be interested in taking a look at the VI that was having problems.  For simplicity, if you would be able to take the VI you were having problems with, delete everything out of it except for the Write To Measurement File Express VI that is giving you problems, then save as a new name and attach it to this thread, along with any steps needed to reproduce the error, that would help us help you the best.

Sorry I did not explain that too well.

I had a 'write measurement VI 'in Labview 7.1 which I then imported into Labview 8.

I then added a further 'write measurement' Vis from the express menu of Labview 8, and this created the problems.

The solution was to remove the write measurement files that had been placed under 7.1 and then replace them with VIs from Labview 8.0 express VI.

Thanks again for the interest.

Kind regards

Derek
