When Trying to Install Labview 8.6.1 on Windows 7 Get Error Code -12

This thread is old know but I want to update it anyway. 

I have had the same problem has the other persons here, but I have found a solution that works.

This error comes when trying to install LabVIEW from a remote machine. So if your trying to install from a dvd rom or harddrive that resides on the windows 7 part of your machine it will look like a remote machine to the virtual PC.

Just copy the DVD into the C drive of the virtual PC running xp and install it from there.

This worked for me.

I had the same error code when installing LabWindows 2009 in WIN 7 after uninstaling 2010 Run time engine. To solve it I followed a previous post: to look into the distribution folder and executing the installers i wanted (just one).

I have lost 2 days until i got to the post that solved my problem! Thaks!!
