When exactly can I get my hands on LV 2016?

Hi all,

For various reasons, I am urgently awaiting the release of LV 2016.  I am going to be at NIWeek next week.  Will I be able to get a DVD with LabVIEW PDS on it while I am there?

I have a valid SSP by the way.

Thanks, John

As an SSP holder, you should be able to call your local NI rep and get an estimate.

Hi John,

with a valid SSP (and even without) you can download LV2016 next week. (Or maybe some days earlier.)

Usually the new LV version is available as soon as NI Week starts…

Best regards,
GerdW

As discussed in another thread, the LabVIEW 2016 download is available on NI's public site already, I just haven't seen an official annoucement for it yet, but the download has been available since the end of June.

I downloaded and installed it yesterday and it seems to be fine, other than having activation issues which might persists until the official announcement.  I also don't have the device drivers yet but this is enough to satisfy my desire to try out new things, and have a better understanding of some of the things we'll probably see announced at NI Week.  No idea about physical copy availability in Austin next week.

I think NI may be going away from distributing on multiple DVDs, instead using a USB-based "Flash Disk" (a read-only Flash Drive), with 30-50GB of stuff, depending on the Product.  I'm guessing these will not be given out at NI Week.

It's about time! It's gotten a little bit better in recent years, but I remember spending entire afternoons feeding DVDs to the LabVIEW installer. It should make repairing an installation a lot easier too! No more playing the guessing game when it asks you to install the disk with such and such on it.

NI has been experimenting with the USB distribution with the Alliance Partners the last couple of years.  I have not had any problems with it so far, but I am not exactly in a IT restrictive atmosphere now.

The Web installs have gone a long way at helping this issue too, even if I resisted it at first.  You just download a small EXE, that lets you pick what NI software you want to download.  Then run that same EXE again and pick install, and pick the NI software to install.  No disk swapping, no unneccessary installers, can be put on a USB or a network location.  Of course there isn't a web install for 2016 yet, as it isn't even announced yet but I plan on downloading when it is available.
