Why not a simple comma delimited text file (.csv)?

 

CSV files are opened with Excel by default and csv files being pure text compresses very well for emailing using LabVIEW built in ZIP functions.

As I mentioned in the original post, but probably not stressed enough, is that I need to have more functionality, such as adding worksheets and protect from editing. A csv (or other "basic" format) would not let me do that.
