While opening LabVIEW, NI server Explorer 7.0 error

Hi,

Each time LabVIEW 7.1 is opened, it asks for installing NI Server Explorer 7.0. Since I don't know from which CD I can install this, I used to select the "Cancel" option. Then the error message " Error 1706. No valid sopurce could be found for product NI server Explorer 7.0. The windows installer cannot continue" comes. But LV is working fine even without this(atleast it seems to be).Anyone has any idea why this is happening because till a few days back everything was working fine. From which CD( LV or device drivers) will I get this installer??

TIA

Kalidas

Hi,

You could try from "Add or remove programs" to chose for "National Instruments Software" the option Modify ... and then select "NI Lab-View Runtime Engine 7.0" and the Repair button ...

It should work.

Hi Kalidas,

do you have NI-IMAQ installed on your computer, by any chance? I know that some versions of NI-IMAQ would give this error message and uninstalling NI-IMAQ and then reinstalling LabVIEW and NI-IMAQ after that would fix the problem.

If you’re seeing any other error messages, especially ones that refer to DLLs, let me know and that may be an indication of another problem.

Thanks!

Hi KileenC,

I have NI IMAQ with me and uninstalled it as you mentioned. Still the problem is there. I didn't reinstall LabVIEW. May be as a last resort will try that.

Thank U.

Hi KAliDas,

One more thing to check: do you have any older 6.x versions of LabVIEW? In particular, LabVIEW 6.x had issues with the NI-IMAQ driver. I would suggest uninstalling any older versions of LabVIEW, and reinstall LabVIEW 7.1 (from scratch possibly if it's still giving errors).

Sorry for the inconvenience.
