Why does our software not work in china?

We have written a software logging package that has worked well so far. However, we have just received a message from a new customer in China (who is
using chinese MS Windows) that the RS232 comms port does not work.

I have no more information at the moment but am asking if this is a common or known problem?

I have personally never come across an issue such as this. You'll have to get more information before this can be investigated fully. Is it possible for you to try and replicate the error or get a detailed description of what the error is, how and when it is generated.

Sorry I couldn't help you any further.

Regards

Stuart

Here's a quick thing you can check by changing the settings of your computer. On some international machines they use the comma as the decimal separator. If your code, or your instrument requires numbers with a period as the decimal separator this would cause problems. This is an actual experience that we had with our instrument.

Sounds like a definite possibility!

Forward and back slashes can also be represented differently, although I'm not sure if this is the case with a Chinese OS.
