Will my LabView Application Builder 4.0 work with my Labview 4.1?

Upgrading LabView 4.1 is not an option, due to legacy software/hardware issues, but I need to make the code either password-protected or an executable for software configuration purposes. From our software library archive, I can only find Application Builder 4.0

Hi,

in all of the "newer" LV-versions it is possible to save into "one step back" - Version ( LV6.1 ==> to LV6.0).
It should be possible for you to save your LV4.1-application to LV4.0 and then create an .exe.

Find this under "Save with Options" \ "Save for previous" ...

hope this works for you.

regards
Werner

Have you asked NI? App builder 4.1, if it exists, might be a free upgrade from your 4.0...

I tried to email NI, but the website wouldn't let me.
It said LabVIEW 4.0/4.1 is not longer supported...
The help system routed me directly to the forums.

You can't password protect VIs in 4.1.

What you can do is to save a COPY, I repeat COPY of your VIs with their diagram removed. Open your top level VI and then File > Save with options > Application distribution. This will copy the whole hierarchy of the VI to another location with diagram removed. That is not like password protected (since password protected VIs in later version of LabVIEW still keep their diagrams and can be recompiled to new version of LabVIEW) but the diagram is not accessible. The VIs can't be recompiled.

If you want an executable, you need the Application builder for 4.1.

Hi Albert,

you ask in a thread nearly 10 years old for an obsolete LV version?

What answer do you expect?

Best regards,
GerdW
