Will the LabVIEW work on Windows 2000 at all?

Will the LabVIEW work on Windows 2000 at all?  I know sometimes that software works on previous versions even though the specs says it works on Windows XP and Vista.

You should be more specific - there is no such thing as "the LabVIEW".

There are several versions.

That said, I am running LabVIEW 8.2 on Win2000 with no problems.

Up untill LabVIEW 7.1 it runs flawlessly on W2K. Higher versions are supported on W2K (http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/2454 , and http://www.ni.com/labview/requirements.htm ), but I only tried the beta versions of 8.0 and 8.2. They worked fine (besides the beta flaws).

I believe that it is LabVIEW I'm looking for.  I'm trying to find out if the software with the Lego Mindstorms NXT will run on a W2K lab.

Yes, that software runs on a slightly modified version of the LabVIEW Run Time Engine, that is used to run the Mindstorm VI's. The LabVIEW RTE will run anywhere where the development version runs, so my guess is the LEGO Mindstorms NXT till run on win2k.

I actually prefer running LV on Win-2K than XP.   However, I can't complain about XP since SP-2.

I run LV7.0 to 8.2 on a mix of Win-2K & XP, depending on which customer site I'm at.

No comments on VISTA as I do not have it..

I think the LEGO Mindstorms NXT software is a specialized version of LV7.1. There were some interesting discussions by the developers at NI Week. They put some effort into making sure that it would run under a variety of OSes because of the target markets. You might also search the Forum Archives for LEGO.

LabVIEW 8.2 will run on both Windows XP and 2000, while LabVIEW 8.2.1 which just released will work on Windows Vista. The Lego Mindstorms NXT will indeed run on Windows 2000. I hope this helps.
