I have LabView 5.0 (student). If I run Updater 5.1.1, will it work with my current version?

No. The way LabVIEW releases go, you'd have to pay to upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1 and then use the updater. Versions with a third number are bug fixes and are free to download but only for a specific version. Thus 5.1.1 was a bug fix of 5.1 and 6.0.1 and 6.0.2 were bug fixes of 6.0.
