Write Delays over Ethernet

Hi,

When I perform a write to a compact fieldpoint device via Ethernet from my OPC application, there is sometimes a delay of up to 2 seconds before the output actually operates on the device. At other times it operates immediately.

Has anyone else experienced this and is there a solution?

The client applicaiton works OK on another OPC server (which uses profibus) so I think that the problem might be in NI's OPC serrver or possibly something in the TCP/IP protocol???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

you say from your "OPC application" but exactly how are you writing it? Is it LabVIEW code using the fieldpoint vi's, or are you using fieldpoint opc?

Are you writing to "All" or just one channel, or multiple channels singley?

Thanks

Hi,

I am using NI's OPCFieldpoint and I am writing to a single (bit) output.

Hi,

what happens if you try using the fieldpoint vi's instead of OPC?

(Even if you try this in another vi as a tester)

What versions of LabVIEW and Fieldpoint are you using?

What's your network architecture (hub, switches etc) and what's the spec of your PC?

Thanks
