Writing to parallel port - 2000 vs XP & I/O vs VISA

I have written a program which requires writing information to a parallel port. I have written it on a windows 2000 machine and have tired to run it on an XP machine. When using the I/O outport function error 37 occurs, when using a VISA the XP machine indicates that resource files cannot be found while the 2000 machine produces a framing error. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

There are many reasons why this error could occur. I found a knowledge-base which describes a similar problem, maybe it works also for your problem.
