Thanks for your reply. 

Yeah I have considered that vi as well, and am happy to use it - but in my ideal world I would love a vi that incorporates the functions of writing to a spreadsheet or text file with the advanced functions of the "write to measurement vi" - easy enable/disable, auto split files etc etc. 

looks like ill have to manually handle that though. Not a big issue
