Problems/Changes with the new LabView continue to cause problems. seem to be able to build an EXE with no problem. If I try to make an installer, the tool comes up with a message:
"Locate the "NI LabVIEW 8.5.1" distribution. LabVIEW needs to copy a component installed or updated by the distribution to continue building the installer."
I have no idea why it needs the disk, but I go ahead and insert the 8.5.1 DVD. The disk is there, I can see it, but the tool says it's an "Invalid location for "NI LabVIEW 8.5.1". Yes, I have the right DVD. So I click the little folder button. It sees the nidist.id file it wants. I click on it and get a message "You cannot choose this folder name; a file of that name already exists."
If I view the build errors under details I see the following:

I stumbled onto a fix. I have two disks. One is the DVD, PN# 501510D-01. The other is the CD PN# 501327E-01. For some reason the installer needs both of these to work. I used the DVD and it got me through the first hang but then it got stuck again asking for the same disk so I stick the CD back in and it was able to finish up. Crazy. Do these people ever test anything?
Next step we will see if the install actually works. Did notice that it does not seem to let me pic the directory I want to install from and there was always problems with the older versions on how the path was handled for the EXE and the VI. Will be interesting to see if that simple problem was ever fixed....
