Normally I use WORD to do all my typing and drawing. How do I save it as a JPG or GIF file? Do I need to buy some new software or can I download from somewhere?

If you're using windows, click the PrintScreen button to capture the image (you may need to click it a few times, or try Alt+PrintScreen).
Then, open Paint (should be in Start>>Programs>>Accessories) and click Ctrl+V to paste.
You can now play with the image and get only the part you want.
Click File>>Save As and select the format (PNG, GIF or JPG are recommended).

The ability to save to other formats only came in later versions of windows. You can try looking for other programs on the internet. Since you're using Word, another option would be to copy your diagram to PowerPoint (or do it there in the first place) and PP should allow you to save the slide as a picture.

OK, we are discussing several issues at once.

  • Ability to attach more than one file.
  • Ability to embed images directly in the post.
  • Ability to save a diagram image.

This posts demonstrates a combination of solutions: 🙂

First, I have attached a VI that saves the diagram of a selected VI as PNG image (LabVIEW 7.0).
If you are fast, you can attach another file when you edit the post (e.g. the diagram image).
Now you can go back and edit the post again and inline the attached image using IMG tags.
