Hello PIC,

I'm not sure Student version of LabVIEW allows you to communicate with any device. Check this point on NI/academic web or ask to customer information.

From a technical viewpoint, VISA read/write are not to hard to run but can require some "tricky settings".
If you're stuck, you can either post your VI so that somebody here can advise you accurately or check in the past threads because you're not the first to have troubles with VISA read/write.

Besta regards.

We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.

Thanks for the suggestion. I an using the Basic Serial Write and Read.vi provided by National Instruments to perform a loop back test by placing a wire across pin 2 & 3 on the RS232 9 pin serial cable.

I will contact NI/academic or customer service.

Thanks again
