build path

Hi,

I am trying to create my on function "Build Path" under File I/O.
My program searches through folders for files, therefore I must create add or subtract from the path to move up or down the directory.
Build path does not work for me because I will be sending in a string for the base path and a string for name or relative path.
The build path works on a PC system where the one I need to build must work on an instrument file structure.

Hi:

I'm not sure if I understood your question but it seems that all you need is a concatenation of the strings. See the image attached. If you want to substract elements from paths in string from, you need to process them using the String functions.

If I misunderstood your question please let me know.

Regards.

Do you have a specific question or issue?  I cannot tell from your post.

As far as  portability goes, the LabView file structure functions are OS independent.  I.e. they will use Windows syntax when run on Windows machines, POSIX on Linux, OSX on Macs, etc.  For this reason, I would try to use the built in LV functions to the greatest extent possible.

You did not totally misunderstand my requirements.
I simply need to be more specific.
I have a AWG710B with a hard drive inside.  No OS.
This hard drive stores data and you can create folders to separate your data.

I like to treat this machine as a computer where I can drill down into folders and drill back up to select files that have been store in various folders.
The build path function in file i/o expects to seen a path from a computer, this instrument is not a computer.
Therefore I need to be able to construct my own function to build path.  When I select a folder the path start to build up and when I click on a second folder the path gets longer adding the folder which I just click on.

Enclosed is similar to what I am looking for.  However again the instrument is not a computer therefore I can not use the file i/o functions.

The AWG710B is a Tek Arbitrary Waveform Generator.

How does one access the files on it if one is not using a computer?

In other words, does Tektronix have documentation on whether you can?

Hi,

They have gpip command like MMEMORY:CATALOG?; which displays the folders and files in the current directory
and they MMEMORY:CDirectory <name>; to change directory.
