cRIO is not connecting to MAX

Helloo,

I am very new to LABVIEW.
I am using Labview 8.0 , MAX 4.2.1, ,NI RIO 2.0, cRIO-9002 , chassis cRIO-9101 and in slot 1 i have connected NI-9401. And i have installed LABVIEW Professional, LABVIEW real time, LABVIEW FPGA. Now first time i have connected my cRIO-9002 to my system(PC) through CAT5 cable. And when i opened the MAX, under remote systems, nothing was found to configure my controller. And my PC is having only one ethernet connection which is connected to cRIO through CAT 5 cable.

How to connect my cRIO to MAX?? Where is the problem really?? how can i proceed??
can any one help me.

Thanks & Regards,
Ravi Kumar.

raviece,

Are you connecting directly to the cRIO controller from your PC?  If so, you need to use an ethernet crossover cable.  If you connect through some kind of switch or hub, you use normal ethernet cables

When you connect directly to a controller from your PC (no netwoking device) then you also must setup your PC with a static IP address.  Take a look at this KB for more details:  http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/72AE8CADA1AF075686256A16005D55B1

That's happened to me before.... enet cable just stops working for no apparent reason, even with link lights.
