Did you mean:

can't use traditional ni-daqmx on LabView 8.2

Hello again,

just to be clear what I exaclty have:

iMacs with WINXP and MAC OS Tiger selected during booting.
I installed from the "NI Academic Site License 2006" the 8.2 core software on WIN XP and installed the "LV Professional Development System for MAC OS X 10.3 or later" on Tiger.

If I now open a blank VI on WINXP and open on the Block diagram the functions menu and go to measurement I/O I see what can be seen on "WINXP.jpg". So there is all I need except the traditional VI's.
If I do the same on the MAC Tiger version after or before the mass compiler, I do see an empty window under Measurement I/O. So there is no VI at all and I have no clue why? I am used to the old LV5-7 and have no clue what I did wrong.

It looks as though you have not installed NI-DAQmx Base. See my previous post.

Unfortunately, NI does not seem to be trying very hard to make DAQ on Mac easy.

Thanks again. The strange thing is I can see the NI-daq base folder on the LV 8.0 on which I installed 8.2, but now I am downloading the base 2.1 for XP and Tiger again and I hope it will help. Additionally I am downloading Legacy, which I did some while ago. Maybe a fresh installation will help 🙂

I installed NI DAQmxBase on both WinXP and Mac OS Tiger running on our iMac computers with Intel processor. Now, finally, both versions show the VIs in MEasurement I/O. However installing LEGACY was not possible on the MAC, because after unzipping the file, I couldn't execute it. On the other hand LabView support told me, that USB-6009 is not supported by Traditional DAQ, so there is maybe no need to install it.
But shouldn't it still be possible to see the traditional VIs even if I cant use them in cunjunction with the USB 6009?

What I tried was downloading complete/NI-DAQ_6.6.x_4.9.x(full).hqx (that was suggested by the support), but after unzipping no execution is possible on the computer. I tried it on my personal MAC without Intel processor and it told me that Mac OS Classical environment is needed.

So how can I install Legacy on a intel based MAC? All other questions are somehow answered, I will change the traditional VIs to the new ones in order to use the USB 6009, which should be so difficult using the template.

The legacy NI-DAQ is not supported under OS X. You can load it under Classic, although I do not recall if it runs. Classic is a MacOS 9 environment runnig under OS X on PPC. Because of hardware differences Classic does not run on an Intel Mac. I do not believe there is any way to run NI-DAQ on an Intel Mac.

You certainly do not need NI-DAQ for any hardware that is supported under OS X. The USB-6009 runs quite nicely on PPC or Intel Macs with DAQmx Base and LV 8.20. I have not run the 6009 under earlier versions of LV but LV7, 7.1, 8.0, and 8.2 all see the DAQmx Base VIs.
