cannot select or edit in the edit mode (no protection)

I have an issue with my labview. I cannot select and move a object or even drag to largeer/smaller on every VI on my compueter even a new one. The cursor seems not changing no matter where I put in the panel (over an object or not). It is always a hand with index finger up. But it is actually in the edit mode and no protection for any VI I tried.

I tried a same VI on another computer and it is just working fine. So I believe there is something happened with the labview I installed on that specific computer.

Could anyone find out what happened?

I figure it out with reviewing a post in 2009. Use Tab to switch mode? When the cursor becomes cross, it is normally what we are using.

Thanks, Forum.

More specifically, the auto tool is turned off.

When you shift -right click on block diagram or front panel.  If the LED at the top of the tool pallete is lit, auto-tool is on and the cursor will change modes for whatever is most appropriate for what you are hovering over.

If the LED is off, then auto-tool is off.  The cursor is locked to a specific tool.  You need to manual change tools (by picking or palette or tabbing) to get to the appropriate tool and cursor.

Some people hate auto-tool, some people love it.  I personally love it and use it 99% of the time.  However, once it a while, I need to manually pick a tool (usually related to painting or color controls) and thus have to go to manual tool mode.

One other place I use a specific tool is when I am wiring in tight spaces.
