color indicator

I need a custom indicator. 5 states, a different color for each state. Preferably round. Has anyone done this?

Can you just use a led which changes colors?  You could use an array of color values, one for each state and pass it the toe color property when needed, you could also use a picture ring with a picture of a different color (round) in each,
