coloring a STRING control frame (LV 6.0)

Hello
I found an answer on how to make the frame on numeric control disappear. <> It is just hard to find a place where to click. In the end I found out, if you'd click on the Radix field that would also affect the frame.
But where to click on a string control? I need to build some custom dialog boxes where the prompt text should not be framed.
I have tried to customize the string control and reduce the frame to one pixel. But that makes the control unflexible to differently sized texts.
Any better idea is appreciated.

You make the border on a string control transparent by using the paint brush on the border. What you problem might be is that the border has two different colors and you need to select the correct one to make the whole thing transparent. When you right click on the border, you should see something like the attached picture. Hit the space bar to toggle the color selection so that either the first box in the low left is highlighted or no box is highlighted. Choosing transparent will then make the border transparent. There is also a Simple String on the Classic Controls string palette that you might find easier to modify.

Don't make easy things c
omplicated. Just use the older labview 5 string
control, to find in another topic of the control select dialog. It is much
more easier to hide theese controls frames.
much look!
