configuring channels

Hi,

I am using PCI 6024E card with CB 68LP analog I/O board. My question is how do I configure each channels for gains? The voltage for analog input is around 12mV and I am afraid that the card will not read it. So either I have to use an amplifier before connecting it to anolog input or use set a channel for differnt gains. In the manual it says the input range can be set to 50 mV. How do I do that? Can someone put a light into it.

Note I am using a transducer and the output voltage on the trasducer for my application is in mV which I am trying to feed to the analog input channel.

The PCI 6024E has a preamplifier on it that can allow you to read a signal of +/- 50mV with full resolution. That means that you should be able to read your signal; however, ideally, you should amplify it a bit before connecting it to your DAQ board.

If you are using DAQmx, then you simply set the range for the signal (either in MAX or LabVIEW) and it handles the amplification on its own. For Traditional DAQ you set the range by going to the device properties and setting the range on the AI tab.

    My input signal is small (80mV) so I want to amplify it AND keep the noise as small as possible. I am wondering about if PCI 6024E has amplifier ON it so I can do the amplification without connecting to other amplifier hardwares but simply using the Programmable Gain Instrumentation Amplifier?

P.S. The I/O DAQ box I use is SCB 68.
