context menu in application

Hi to all,

I try to implement a context menu for some elements in my application. It works well during runtime, but when I build an aplication, the context menu is lost.
This happens only when I store the context menu in a seperate rtm-file, if I save it together with the element then its OK.

Has anybody an idea about that behaviour (bug, my mistake???)

Thanks a lot, Helmut (LV 8.0.1)

You have to attach the rtm file as a support file before building application (page "source files" in Build Specifications).

Hope it helps

Thanks for your answer,

I have tried it, but unfortunately its the same behaviour.
Also in the Project Explorer no relation is shown to the context rtm files (like for vi`s)

Has anybody made the same experience (and found a solution?)

Best regards, Helmut

Hello Helmuth,

Your are building a runtime menu for a VI of your project! Are you using "User Items" or "Application Items"?

What do you mean with "save together with the element"? Maybe you can post a .zip of the concerning part of your project so we can have a look at!

Kind Regards, Christian  (from Munich)

Hi Christian,

very nice to hear that someone in Munich is also coding with LabView.
Unfortunately the code of the application is much to large to post and also a view databases are required.
But here is one sample of an item:

The context items are user items and currently the only way that it worked after building the application is to save it together with the related control or indicator (this is an option when you create the context menu) or dynamically generating it during runtime.

Best regards, Helmut

P.S. Bin übrigens sehr häufig in München, arbeitest du dort?

This was reported to R&D (#3T2E57V2) for further investigation. A possible workaround, as you noted, is to include the shortcut menu with the control, not in a separate file. Thanks for the feedback!
