Hello,

do you know how to change the vi-icon to the connector field on the front panel of your vi?
There you can connect your input and output structures to input and output nodes of your VI. Then you use "select a VI" from the "functions palette" to insert the VI as subVI in your mainVI.

Hope this will help you.

Also, if you haven't already, go through either the three hour course or the six hour course or check any of the other training resources here. LabVIEW is easier to learn than somehting like C++ but that doesn't mean that formal training is not required.

thank you Stephane,

To your first question, my answer is no. I use to work with labview but I don't remember the place and how I was choosing from different shape of subvi with input and output...

thank you again,

Hi Rémi,

in the upper right corner of your front panel you can see an icon depicted. It represents the code of VI as a subVI in anothor VI when it is loaded via "select a VI". Click rigth with the mouse on this icon and you get an context menu. There should be a menu point named "Show connector". The icon should change in a pattern of white sqaures. If you have in- and output structures on your front panel, the white should represent them in numbers. The rectancles on the left represents the input structures and the ones on the right the output structures. Take the "connect wire" tool and click the rectangle which should represent the data structure on the front panel und then click on the mentioned front panel structure. The colour of the recta
ngle changes from white to the colour of the used data type. E.g., if you have a simple Digital Indicator it should become orange for real values or blue for integer values.
If you load this VI now as a subVI with "select a VI" you should be able to see this connection on the icon.

Please keep telling me wheather my description has helped you.

I think the goal of the answer was to direct you to some helpful information to achieve something which you should be able to achieve after reading the documentation which comes with LabVIEW or, in this case, some pre-provided course material to help you increase your knowledge of LabVIEW.

The question you have asked is not of an advanced nature, therefore it is clear that someone answering would assume that one of these courses would help. You are here looking for help right? And it`s quite rude to answer someone in that was when they are offering their time to help you.

You asked a very basic and simple question. The question could be answered by anyone who has taken a very basic tutorial so I assumed you've had no training at all. You can try to learn LabVIEW on your own and pester this forum with a rash of questions that be answered by taking a class or simply rtfm. When I first started with LabVIEW, there were no on-line resources, books, or much else besides an expensive class in Austin that I couldn't afford. If there had been, I would have productive much sooner. You can take advantage or them or not.

I was only wandering what you were doing in life to have time to answer a stupid way like you did...Take Stephan as exemple: very nice person wich is happy to help someone who didn't remember how to use a fonction of labview. But you,...I have nothing to say...get a life!

I took a 40h class on labview 4 years ago. Right now I'm programming lots of stuff wich I don't want to traduce in English because those
are really simple words in french. If you can't read french, you should have tooken a book and learn it. This as no point and I know it...such as your first comment.
