create new window changed

Hello,

I have a quick question.  When the Getting Started screen is loaded, and you click more in the new box.  For some reason mine changed to the one I posted a picture about.  Sometime after I was coding some projects in 6i and 7.1, this screen changed to this.  I am merely wondering if anyone knows how to change it back?

Thanks,

Hi drewsky,

Did you install LabVIEW 8.2?  Do you see this screen when opening 6i and 7.1?

Hello,

I have had LabVIEW 8.2 for about a year now.  I don't see that screen when I open 6i and 7.1.  The only thing that I have had problems with was file association that I had LabVIEW 6i, 7.1, and 8.2 all fighting over.  I fixed that and a little while later, this started.

Hi drewsky,

Can you be more specific as to when this screen comes up?  Is it when you double-click a VI to open it?  Note that LabVIEW will open a VI in the last version of LabVIEW you opened, not in the version the VI was written in.

When I start LabVIEW, there is the Getting Started screen.  On the left column, there is new vi, ... then more.  When I click more, this window pops up.

I believe this VI is the same VI opened when you select File>>New.

If that's the case, it's found at <LabVIEW>\resource\plugins\lv_new.vi. You can try finding the original on your CD (possibly in a CAB file) and overwriting the existing one with the one from the CD.

wow, you're right.  I must have deleted the file when I removed one of my icon editors.  I need to be a little more careful on what I delete.  Thanks a bunch!

It's actually quite nice that LabVIEW has a fallback dialog for a case where that VI doesn't exist. I haven't tried this before (and I'm not going to now, either), but it would be interesting to see what happens if you delete other dialog VIs that LV uses.
