Did you mean:

deploy shared vaiable to a particular network

Hi,

I am using data dashboard to measure data from cdaq 9191.
For this I connected the chassis to my laptop via ethernet.
Now I need to deploy a shared variable library to the wireless network my laptop has connected to.
However the library always gets deployed to the ethernet address which my smartphone is not able to capture.

I tried

But to no avail.

Please help!

I've haven't tried to use Data Dashboard yet but I have used Shared Variables.  I remember the trouble I had was that the deployed Shared Variable library had to be on the same subnet as the machine that was trying to read them.  Could that be the problem here?  If the DHCP server assigns an IP address that is on a different subnet you won't be able to see the Shared Variables.

Thanks for the reply

I connected my laptop to 2 networks:
Via ethernet to the chassis and via wifi to the network I want to deploy my shared variable on.
I want my shared variables to be deployed on the wireless network which works fine (At this point lan cable is unplugged)

until I connect to the chassis using ethernet.
That is to say, that when I am only connected wirelessly to my preferred network the variable always gets deployed correctly but as soon as I connect the chassis it seems my laptop gives priority to the wired network and ignores the wireless one.
Hence the variables get deployed on the ip address of the chassis itself, which is useless.

I tried using ways to prioritize my wifi over lan but the variables still get deployed only to the wired network
I can connect to my preferred network wirelessly only.

Please brief me a little more about the subnet thing you were talking about.

I'm assuming this is a corporate or large business network and not a small business or home network.  The DHCP server will assign an IP address and a subnet mask.  Basically being on the same subnet means the first three octets of your IP address are the same.  A lot of times the wired and wireless networks are on different subnets.  That would be why the phone can see the shared variables when the laptop is wireless.  The easy answer is to unplug the ethernet cable from the docking station and always use wireless.  The hard answer is to get your IT department involved so your laptop and phone always get IP addresses on the same subnet whether wired or wireless.
