detector callibration

Hello,

My ILX Lightwave LPA-9084 Semiconductor Laser Characterization System uses LabView and NI software. During laser characterization I got an error. # 717 This is an issue where a ZERO function is attempted, however there is an input level that is detected that is too strong to properly perform this operation. In the Users Manual advice to use remote GPIB command to put correction command (PWR:ZERO:RESET.) to reset the detector 0 calibrations.
I have no knowledge how I can access the GPIB command place, in other word I do not find a proper place to put the corrective command. (I am just a instrument user)
I was searching the Web. But no reference how I can find the place to put the command.
Please pinpoint the place where I can make correction.

Thank you
Regards
Peter

The quick and easy way is to use NI-MAX which should already be installed on your system.

1.  Open Ni-MAX.

2.  Drop down the Devices and Interfaces.

3.  Drop down your GPIB connection device (GPIB0 probably).

4.  Pick the instrument to talk to.

5.  Click Open VISA Test Panel.

6. Click Input/Output.

7. Type in your command and click Write.

You can also use the Communicate with Instrument section but I like the VISA panel.
