device driver troubelshooting

Dear All

I am using LabView 8.2.1 and “Measurement and automation explorer” 4.2.1 with Windows XP. Apparently I got some troubles with NI device drivers because loading of “Measurement and automation explorer” takes a lot of time and CPU resources.A process which is called “nimxs.exe” takes almost half the CPU resources and even after it becomes loaded it can not access to the devices. Attached with this message I sent the error log file of nimxs which consist of some error logs.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall “Measurement and automation explorer” and “NI-DAQmx8.5” several times but it did not change anything.

It was working for a long time before and this problem suddenly happened. Recently I did not install any software but MATLAB and some networking software for VNC server. Looking at system tools and event viewer shows that there are two errors related to LabView:

1) NI variable engine: The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( NI Variable Engine ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event:

Unable to load the configuration subsystem: Failed to get MAX configuration interface..

2) nipalu: [nidevldu] [[nidevldu]]  Fatal p:\Measurements\Infrastructure\devld\trunk\1.6\source\tDeviceLoader.cpp:259 - Could not connect to MXS. MAX configuration files may be corrupt!

I don’t have a drive “p “ I don’t know what it refers to.

Do you have any suggestion to resolve this issue?

Best regards

Hi Afshin,

Your problem does sound strange. Instead for reinstalling MAX and LV, can you try to do a cleanup of MAX Database?

Please follow the link and let me know the results.

Thanks!

I see it has been a while from the conversation of this issue, but I am having similar troubles with this error.

<nierror code="-2147220721">
(Hex 0x8004030F) The configuration database cannot be opened, possibly due to corruption. Please note the steps you performed that led to this error and contact technical support.
</nierror>

The link you provided in 2009 is no longer a good one, any tips going forward of this issue?
