Sanjay,
NI India did contact me and I am working with them in order to get you a quicker response, since I am about a 10 hours time difference from you. Very interesting that it came down to reformatting your computer, as our clean out utility typically fixes the problem. I’m glad to see things are working with your laptop, and may suggest contacting NI India again before reformatting your desktop to see if we can avoid this.

David,
Thanks. I will not reformat my desktop in a hurry. In any case I have enough backlog to keep me busy for some time. The RT, RIO etc. also installed fine, and now I am in the process fo completing the install of my other software. I am not risking the files & folders transfer (I do have this on my USB Drive) just in case. I an sure everything will work fine (at least) as long as I do not risk the 8.50 install.
Maybe the forced format was not such a bad thing after all. Running the laptop for over 21 months would have collected a lot fo garbage. We all know how the registry gets cluttered up (uninslatts are never 'clean').
I may add one thing. The day after the install I was forced to do a fresh Activation, not totally unexpected, except I was expecting it on day one itself, when the old information did get me some sort of a temporary activation. It does not really matter with an Academic Site License. I am still to try a Windows update, I suspect 50+ fixes may be waiting there, and Microsoft may not like my entering again..
Thanks
Sanjay
