please kinly help me. i want to detect the heart rate from the ecg signal. i am using labview 8.2.1 student edition

Have you defined a detection algorithm?  I suspect that you are a student and the detection algorithm is part of the assignment.

Describe the detection algorithm and we can give you hints at how to implement it using LabVIEW.

This may also be of some help. http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/6626 This free "toolkit" is most made as a teaser for other NI toolkits. But the ECG simulator may be useful for your school assignment.
