executable version error with LV RTE after installing DAQmx

I am running LV 7.1.1 and after installing DAQmx 8.0 I can no longer run any executables, can not open M&AE, and can not use the DAQmx functions.  It basically does not work out of the box.  I always get the error:

"Executable version (7.1.1) doesn't match resource file (7.1)"

I have tried the suggested fix from NI of "repairing" the LV 7.1.1 runtime engine from the control panel.  This does not correct the error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

See the message at http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=70&message.id=4781&query.id=0#M4781. It seems the DAQmx installation is installing the 7.1 run-time engine and not 7.1.1.

Thanks for the response.

After installing DAQmx, it appears to haev installed the runtime engines 7.0 and 7.1.1 (listed in the control panel).  I don't see RTE 7.1 in the anywhere.  If I repair the 7.1.1 runtime engine - it doesn't correct the problem.  If I try to remove it it tells me basically that everything including LabVIEW is dependent on it and that all those things will be uninstalled at the same time.

Anyhting else to try?

From the pc where you developed your application, get the RTE from there and install it on the computer

From the pc where you developed your 7.1.1 application, get the RTE and install it on the computer where you just installed DAQmx. If the installer with DAQmx 8.0 is really putting on a 7.1 RTE, doing a repair won't help. You can also get all versions of the RTE from NI's web site.

this is the very PC that I did everything from.  It's actually not an issue running one executable - I can't launch MAX, can't run any executable  and I can't use the DAQ assistant without getting this error.

So I downloaded RTE 7.1 and 7.1.1.  My system will not let me install EITHER of them.  It says:
"Installation Aborted.  A higher version of this product is already installed."

*** I was just spekaing with NI support and he recommended that I try downloading DAQmx 8.0.1.  He thinks it might fix it.

I'll let you know...

thanks for your help.

I installed DAQmx 8.0.1 -  NO LUCK.  Still the same error persists!

John,
This issue has been reported on a number of occasions (although infrequently) and we are currently investigating the problem. At this point, I'd suggest uninstalling DAQ all together and reinstall the latest version. I apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Could you check if the files with the .rsc extension in these two folders match?

C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\resource
C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\LabVIEW Run-Time\7.1

Please post file dates and sizes for the lvapp.rsc and vidialogs.rsc files in the ...Shared\LabVIEW Run-Time\7.1 folder. They should match the files in the ...LabVIEW 7.1\resource folder.

Chris,
I already tried uninstalling DAQ and LabVIEW completely and reinstalling with the latest DAQmx.  I also ran the msiblast utility (provided through an open support request via phone support) with no luck.  still the same errors.

thanks for the update
