extract random portion of signal

Thank you very much!  That worked great, and I was able to randomly exract a portion of the signal that I wanted.

I mean figuring out how to only use the portion of the signal that was above a certain level.  Once I pulled that section of the signal out as you instructed me to, I wrote an algorithm to then extract a random portion of that signal on my own.  Just so its clear to anyone who looks through looking to extract a random portion, that wasn't described here in the end, but it was instead starting using a section of a given signal or waveform once it went above a certain level.
