file protection

i want to upgrade a vi made by someone else but each time I want to save the vi there is a file protection message, even though all permissions are allowed and in vi properties no password is needed. How can I do to upgrade the vi ?

1. Make sure the vi is not set to Read Only (Windoze->right click vi->Properties->Read Only Not Checked.

2. In LV do a file save as and give it a new name. If you're worried about links in other vi's, you can then move the original somewhere and then take the new save and give it the original's name.
