filtering white noise

I want to filter white noise. FIR or IIR which filter is used to remove maximum noise and why ? 

Can any one help me out

Regardless of the type of filter, the output noise energy is determined by the bandwidth of the filter. More technically, the noise energy is dependent on the the spectral response of the filter.  The output of the filter will be a voltage determined by the frequency response of the filter and the energy is the rms value of that voltage.

So, the filter with the narrowest bandwidth removes the most noise.
