foot switch for labview?

Hello community,

I have to develop a LabView (LabView 6.1/Windows 2000) application
that is controlled by a foot switch. We don't have the foot switch
yet. What foot switch would be suitable for LabView?
Note that we don't have a DAQ card and we don't want to buy it for a
foot switch only.
Can we do without a DAQ card?

Hi Johannes,

the most simple solution would be to readout your switch by parallel port - if your PC / Notebook is close to your switch.

I have posted my question and this comment in comp.lang.labview, but the comment didn't appear here. So I will try it here (sorry if it appears twice):

Do I need additional hardware for the parallel port solution? Is the
parallel port a standard interface for a (standard) foot switch? There
must be additional logic in the switch, right? Do you know of such
foot switches?
