google search addon

I would be very interested if anyone has a google search add-on or microsoft add on that indexes VI's, controls and projects and adds them to the index file.

I am curious as to why NI hasn't written this addon, instead of creating a Example Search finder, this would index any web visible files directly.

I would like to use this on our network to search through legacy code, or search through a new customers code to easily be able to find things.

Thoughts,

A.

Wouldn't the regular Google Desktop or perhaps Copernicus be able to do this? Also, I believe the Indexing Service built into Windows XP can do this as well.

I'm not sure I described the problem well enough, I would like to be able to search by VI Description, version number etc, not just file name.

There isn't anything like this that I know of unless some other customers have written one.  It's an interesting idea though and I have started working on it.  I will try and keep this thread updated with progress.

Alex,

I think this would be a great tool for organisations to add to there google desktop's to allow google to find an old legacy vi, based on information in the vi, not the vi name itself.

Good Luck implementing, and keep us up to date.

You may want to consider adding this to the LabVIEW Idea Exchange.
