8 years later you have exactly the same problem (using the same functions on the same hardware using the same LabVIEW version, the same GPIB driver, and the same VI)?

To solve this problem you need to provide more and relevant information. Attaching your code (aka VI/snippet) would be a good start…

Where/when do you run into "error 0"? Is this really related to GPIB at all?

I had managed to set the baud rate to 0 ... so the solution was to set it to a valid value.
