hit7104g_32.dll wanted for LabView ver 6.1

Gents,
First of all, these are my first experiences with LabView 6.1, I found this Software inside a PC Magazine.
Now, I am an absolutely beginner in LabView, but very experienced in technic.

What I want to do,,status:

Connect 2 DOS VC7104 via GPIB bus with my PCI GPIB card in the PC, cables and cards, also the DSOs are working perfect.
Installed the NI 488.2 software, scanned for new instruments, working perfect, it found 1 PCI card # 0, DSO#1 at addres#1 and
the second DSO at address #2.
Great, it seems all is working perfect and I tried the next step how to read out a simple graph from my scope and at this step
I do not understand how to continue, I am not very sure.
Is it necessary to add an IVI instruments ? I did, at least it used a file called hit7104g.c.
Then I opend LabView 6.1 to see how it works now and I tried to add at Tools-Instrumentation-import CVI Intrumentation Driver
to say LabView which kind of scope it should use.
But, at least he wants a dll which I can not find anywhre, its called hit7104g_32.dll.
Can anybody help me to do the right steps, did I make the right steps now ?
Has anybody that file for me and can send it to Germany ?(weltradio@web.de)
Best regards and THX for your advices in advance!!

Is the reason you are trying to import a CVI driver because you only have 6.1 and the LabVIEW driver is only available in 7.0 and 8.0? The file you downloaded is not an IVI driver and is very old and if it is missing the dll, then you will need LabWindows/CVI in order to create the dll. You could ask on the LabWindows/CvI board if someone can do this for you. You could also post the LabVIEW 7.0 driver and ask someone to convert it for you. That would be your best option imho.

p.s. It's not a good idea to post your email in a public forum.

Hi Dennis,
Many ZHX for your answere!

Yes, I think so, I am not sure if LV6.1need an instrument driver, I thought LV is communicating with measurement and automation explorer ?
Yes, I tried to import this and at least I told him an another dll and later he told me the driver was built from a newer version.

This is the only 'driver' I found on ni.com.

I dont know what to ask them...

So, I used a driver from the LV 7 and I should ask the guys to convert it for me. Ok.
Do you please know how to install the driver later into my LV6.1?

Best regards from Germany
Thomas

No, LabVIEW does not communicate with MAX. LabVIEW uses VISA or the GPIB functions to communicate to your instrument. A driver is a LabVIEW program that has encaspulated all of the instrument commands into an easy to use interface. You either use a driver or you write all the VISA Writes and Reads yourself after you study the instrument manual and decide what commands/queries you need. Do not confuse an instrument driver and a driver for a piece of hardware such as a GPIB controller. See http://www.ni.com/devzone/idnet/ for what an instrument driver is and how to use one.

A complete list of drivers for 7104 is available at http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.model_page?p_model_id=725. The LabVIEW driver is the one you want. There are LabVIEW 7 and LabVIEW 8 versions available. You want to download the version 7 driver and post that. Politely ask if there is someone who can convert it for you. I cannot because I do not have the correct version of LabVIEW to save it back to 6.1.

If you wanted to try to use the CVI driver, post the files you did download (.h, .c., .fp etc.) to the CVI board and ask if there is anyone who can create a dll from it so that you can use it in LabVIEW. You will be much better off if you ask for and get the LabVIEW driver.

An instrument driver is installed in the \instr.lib folder. You should have at least one folder there now called hp34401.

Dennis,
Ok, I will take some more time to learn about LV.
A driver here I suppuse is just an interpreter between the instrument and LV.
Yesterday I tried to install the VC 7104 driver for the LV6.0 but it didnt work.

NI driver page tells us:

Minimum ADE Versions
The instrument driver can be used in a variety of application development environments. The minimum versions that can be used with the instrument driver are listed below:

LabWindows/CVI 6.0
Measurement Studio for Visual Studio 6.0

Download Process

LabWindows/CVI 6.0

Download hit7104g
And this is what I supposed, once I get the driver installed correctly, the LV 6.1 should be able to communicate later with my Hitachi DSO VC-7104 ?
Best regards
Thomas

Stop trying to install a LabWindows driver. LabWindows is a C programming environment. It is not the same as LabVIEW.

Yes, that is the correct file and I hope someone will convert if for you. You might get more attention if you create a new thread with just the request to do the conversion. Don't forget to attach it with the Browse button below the message body. Also, don't do a preview after doing the attachment. That will lose the attachment.
