how can I change the browser?

I clicked on Help/Search the LabVIEW Help... and it asked me to select my browser. I accidentally clicked on the first option, which is not really my browser. Now nothing that requires a browser window works, including Help. How can I change this?

Bill,

I think this is just a Windows thing.  Try the following...

1) Navigate to the help directory in the Program Files/National Instruments/LabVIEW folder
2) Find one of the .chm files and right click on it
3) Select "Open With" and then select "Choose Program"
4) Find an entry called "Microsoft HTML Help Executable"
5) Select this program and then check the "Always use..." checkbox
6) Click OK

You should now be able to open up the .chm files (help files) the way they are supposed to be used.  I think LabVIEW just opens one of these files when you select that option in the Help menu so this should fix it.

I hope this helps,

Actually, it's in SUSE linux, using KDE. I tried editing/deleting the .lvbrowser file, but no luck. LabVIEW still does absolutely nothing when I click on Help, or Find Examples, or any of the others links that use a browser. I'm going to try editing the root version of the .lvbrowser file, and if that doesn't work I'm going to reinstall LabVIEW.

Okay, after I deleted the .labviewrc file as well, it asked me to select my browser, which I did. Now everything works except the example finder. That must be some other problem...

Thanks,
Bill

At this point you might just want to try uninstalling and reinstalling LabVIEW.  I looked around a little bit and couldn't find any reason why the example finder would not work other than a corruption of your LabVIEW installation.
