The purpose of having simulated devices is to develop, execute/trouble shoot an application that interacts with a hardware, without actually having the hardware in your system.
So, you will get appropriate errors if you try to do an operation that would not be supported by that hardware.
To answer your query, i would say there is no way that you can 'see' the output of the simulated device.
You have to
trust
the DAQ mx device drivers to activate the lines and ports you have selected
