how can i interface parallel port of the system using labview

i want to read or send data through parellel port of the system using labview. How can i do that ?

you can use NI VISA. The parallel port shows up as either LPT or ASRL10::INSTR (depends if you enabled aliases). There are plenty of examples on how to use NI-VISA with LabVIEW, so you should be able to start with it rightaway.

You might find the following usefull for pin outs and other data on connecting and configuring external circuitry to operate with the parallel port.

Open the Example Finder (Help -> Find Examples). Change to the "Search" tab and enter "parallel" in the search text box. Open the example "Parallel Port Read and Write Loop". This example uses the In Port and Out Port VI.

There's also the KB Article Using VISA to Access the Parallel Port in LabVIEW.
