how does one resize the navigation window in LV8?

Although the LabVIEW 8 help talks about resizing the Navigation Window, there doesn't appear to be a way to do this; it is limite to a fixed size drag function. Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Sam

I just showed the Navigation Window on my VI and was able to resize it without issue.  I'm not sure why you would see that problem.  Are you using the built-in Navigation Window in LabVIEW (View > Navigation Window)?

Is the resize done as one would expect (like in Word) with eight "handles around the window? If so, I don't see those.
You would think that Help would at least have a topic on this, like "click on the frame corner, etc.!)
Perhaps this is a feature only available in the Professional edition; I have Full.
Thanks for the pointer though!

I'm using Windows, and whenever I move my mouse over the window border of the Navigation Window, I get an arrow cursor...over the left/right side I get a sideways double arrow, over the top/bottom I get a vertical double arrow, and over any of the corners I get a diagonal double arrow, just like when I try to resize any other window in Windows.  If you're not seeing those, I have no idea why that is the case.  Do you see those double arrows when moving your mouse over the border of the windows of other apps?  What about other LabVIEW windows (like VI windows, project windows, etc.)?

The arrows definitely show up on vi front panels, just not in the nav window ;this is really a minor annoyance; I would like to see a help topic though!
Thanks again for the help Darren.

I am running into the same problem with 8.2. Why does the help information talk about the feature being available, but it is not there? I have the full version of 8.2. Did I not load the program completely or is that feature only available in the professional version.
It is especially annoying not having it available because whenever I add new things to the block diagram the indicators on the front panel are always created way in the left hand corner, far away from where I need them; wiht no zoom feature it takes a long time to drag the indicators all the way across the front panel.
Any suggestions?
thank you

Hi Joe,

I tried on my machine with LabVIEW 8.2 activated as both Full and Professional version to open the navigation window and I saw on both the option to resize the window itself with the resizer icon.

Would you be kind enough to take a screenshot of your mouse cursor over the edge of the navigation window so we can see what's going on?

The screen shot looks as in the attached picture. I may be confused about resizing the window. Can only the whole navigation window be resized or should I be able to resize the inner moveable pane (the one the cursor is over in the image) of the navigation window as well? I would like a way to zoom the front panel so that I can move an indicator a long distance across the frontpanel. I need to do this because when I input a terminal on the blockdiagram the corresponding indicator appears far away on the front panel from where I need it, and it is very slow to drag an indicator across the frontpanel. Is there another way I can circumvent this problem?
thank you

Hi Joe,

The part that you can actually resize is the entire window, and not the interior, lighter section. Unfortunately, there is no real "zooming" functionality in the navigation window.

It would also be nice to have some way to more easily move those stray front panel controls. I recommend that for both of these features you file a product suggestion, here.
