how to automatically turn off leds after 1 minute/button press

I need help on how to turn off my LEDs 1 minute after my program starts or when the stop button is pressed.. I tried putting a while loop over the LEDs but it doesn't work.. Also the score automatically resets after 1 minute.. how do I maintain the score while turning off the LEDs? thanks.
