how to measure distance traveled with encoder

we are working on a project in order to measure th distance travled by a mouse we use an rotary encoder the problem is that: we need to considarate an incrimentation (not the décrementation) for the pulse of encoder in the two sense 

any idéa?

Hi benahmed,

It depends on the encoder you have. Generally, the encoder examples use the combination of signals to understand direction and speed. It's possible you check what is for your encoder a 360° on one of the signals and just counts the edges of this signal.
