how to restore a vi from 8.2 to 7.1,i open a vi with 8.2,but when open other vis with 7.1,they doesn't work?who can help me ,it's very urgent

Once a VI has been saved in version 8.20, you can no longer open in in LabVIEW 7.1.

Each LabVIEW version can save for the previous version, thus you would need to save your 8.20 for version 8.0 ("save for previous"). Now you need to open them in version 8.0 and save them for version 7.1.

If you don't have LabVIEW 8.0, you have a problem. If it is only a few simple VIs, somebody here can probably convert them for you. Let us know.

If you only opened a VI with 8.2 and didn't do a save, then everything should be okay. You need to specify the exact types of errors you are getting. You might also mention if you are using any of the NI toolkits.

I currently have 6.1, 7.0, 7.1, and 8.2 eval on my system and the installation of a newer version should not affect the older.

Maybe there is something else wrong with your computer, unrelated to the LabVIEW installation. For example, it seems you cannot type in the message body here in the forum. 😞 For example you should scan you computer with an antivirus program, check the disk for errors, clear the browser cache, etc.)

• How exactly did you install the 8.20 evaluation version? Did you use all the default paths or did you possibly manually adjusted the intall location, possibly overwriting the 7.1 installation?
• Does LabVIEW 7.1 still open by itself and can you create new VIs in 7.1 without error ? (Is the problem just with the old VIs?)
• What do you mean by "open my project". LabVIEW projects (*.lvproj) did not exist prior to 8.0, so a labview project will will not open in 7.1.
• Do you also get similar errors when trying to open your files using the 8.20 evaluation version?
• What are the exact errors you are getting. (wrong version, cannot find certain files, etc.)
• Have you tried to repair your LabVIEW 7.1 installation?
• Can you attach one small example VI that you can no longer open without error?
• Can you restore your project from backups?

That still doesn't explain what type of errors you are getting and why can't you use the message body?

If you are getting errors regarding the office toolkit functions, maybe you should uninstall 8.2 and then re-intall the toolkit.
