What Kind of data does the impact hammer give? Also what is the sensor used in it?

An impact hammer usually has an IEP sensor, like an accelerometer. They usually have some sort of signal conditioning module to go between the hammer and the DAQ card. Look up the specs for your hammer for more info.

An impact hammer is a mass (with handle 😉 ) and a force sensor at the tip (usually followed by a cap for pulse shaping and to protect the sensor)
Mostly used for structual modal measurements
The force sensors are usually IEPE , so you have to supply a constant current (2-10mA) and read a voltage of ~10V bias + signal (mV/N)
Here is diagram of of a hammer force pulse applied to one end of a 2m long Titan rod d= 20mm , the red line is the velocity measured at the other end with the schock pulse running back and forward the rod (not scaled)
