I have the destination set for the "root system volume/ATS09" for example, but the files are being written directly to the c: drive without a folder
This has worked fine previously. The "check mark" is set on that particular directory in the destinations area of the installer. I don't see why it doesn't work any more.

Was the folder created before you tried to install things there?
What operating system are you using?

He should not need to create the folder Volume. The installer will create this for him. He would need to create the folder if by another name such as volume/AT90 or whatever.
