Could you tell us a little bit more? Is this an installer you have created with the application builder?

MORE INFORMATION about INSTALLER problem using LV8...
I created LV8 installer for Example program "Plot Image" and ran setup.exe
Product information asks for "Installer destination" which is where
the directory called "Volume" is. I run setup.exe and the program say
it installed successfully. But I can not find PLOT-IMAGES.EXE
anywhere except in my volume directory...where it was created.
Shouldn't the installer copy it to Program Files directory???

Again, check the application builder options. There is everything you need.

I am having a similar issue.  I have labview 8.0 and am attempting to create an installation package.

I have included the built executable and required support files.  I have not entered any registry information for the installation as I am not sure what information should be entered there.

Upon running the setup.exe file, the installation destination location is specified along with the location for the labview runtime engine.

There is however no executable program in the destination folder nor is there a program group.  This is unlike the installer operation from 7.1.  There is evidence that the installer did something as there is evidence in the registry of the program which was to be installed.  Subsequent attempts at installing will result in the installer not selecting any program to install.

Now to forstall Pawel, Captain Obvious, from telling me that everything that I need is an the application build options, I have already looked there and obviously I don't see what options are causing the problem.  What I really need are some bread crumbs as to what options are causing the problem so I can fix the problem.

Than you should buy a glasses and RTFM!.

And besides it is not very polite to insult the people which you came to for a help in the first place.

You should ask yourslef a question if NI will issue the application builder which is not doing anything? No, they did not. So it is your fault that you can not make it work.

Anyways, wear glasses and take a look at the installer options. Under the installer properties -> Source Files you need to click the right arrow on you application to copy it to the installation folder marek with the red check-mark.

Was that clear enough or I shall enclose a video for you.

I believe that what you are missing is the Shortcuts Category in the Installer Propeties.  If you click on this, you can add new shortcuts (with the + button).  You can set up what executable the shortcut should launch, in case you may have multiple programs/utilities.  You can also add multiple shortcuts in case you want to add them to Programs and the Desktop.

I hope this helps,

What could be happening is that you aren't including the executable while configuring the installer. Under My Installer Properties -> Source Files you have to manually drag the executable over from the left pane to the right pane to have it included. If you don't, you get an installer that doen't install an executable (not very useful). Made this mistake myself..

Q: Is possible to build a *.exe type file to use as an update for an LV 8 application?  ( the application was created using "..build specifications-> installer"). Thanks!
