instrument i/o assistant doesnt work

I have installed LV 8.20   evaluation Version on a WIN2K PC
and added the  instrument i/o assistant from the Device Driver Reference CD 1(May 2006).
When I drop the instrument i/o assistant  in blank vi and try to configure it ,
I get a popup that  tells me:
"Measurement & Automation Explorer or instrument i/o assistant  not installed correctly.
Please install  these from the driver CD".
Same on another WIN2K PC .

Hello beethoven,

did you install other dependencies as well from the driver CD (such as NI-VISA and NI-488.2)? The IIOA uses the VISA-API or the 488.2 driver to interface with the components and VI code is generated block diagram of the assistant.

To provide full functionality i'd recommend to install the complete category of instrument control of the driver CD.

Let me know if this helps and get back to me if aou have any queries meanwhile.

Thank you for replying,

I installed the rest of the available drivers ,
except VISA for RTX because theres not RTX Runtime Engine on my PC.
The installer prompts that NI MAX  4.03 won´t be installed , because there is
already MAX 4.1 on the machine , what is correct .

But the IIOA stops with the same error message as before.

Drivers CD´s  (3) came along with CVI 8.01 , that we purchased in this summer.

Hello beethoven,

which release of the driver CD is it? August 06? And did you download LV 8.2 from the web?

There has been an issue with LV Eval 8.2 and the IIOA in the past, as there were minor differences in the source where the drivers have been downloaded from.

Please let me know, because I will set up a testsystem in the lab with your description in order to resolve the error.

Hello Laemmermann, (Name is correct?)

were the informations (concerning origin and date of the drivers and LV Eval Version)

that I sent in  my last reply   helpful ?

My next try  will be an installation on a "clean" XP-System to get LV running and trying the IIOA ,

but at the moment , there is none available .

Hello beethoven,

please think about downloading the latest driver CD of this year (August 06) which is available from:

ftp://ftp.ni.com/outgoing/

This is a rather huge file (~1 GB), so this is only useful if you have a broadband connection. In case I could also create a Service Request and sent these files on CD. In parallel I will setup a system with the same configuration (LV eval) for testing.

Please alternatively try to install the following files from the attached ZIP to the following location ('instrIOAsst' folder deeds to be created):

\LabVIEW 8.0\vi.lib\instrIOAsst

Unzip all of the files to the folder, start LV again and drop an IIOA VI on the blockdiagram.

Let me know if this works.

Otherwise post your email here and I will create a Service Request for you.

Regards,

C.L.
