intermittent triggering, imaq, sony camera

I am using a PCI-1405 to aquire an image from a Sony XC-ES30 camera.  I am using a DC-700 camera adapter.  I use an external trigger to both the camera adapter and the PCI card, and I am using a program similar to "LL triggered snap".  The triggering is intermittent, i.e. I receive an image about a third of the time.  I can verify that the trigger source is working 100% of the time and at appropriate robust levels for the relevant logic.  What else could be causing irreproducible behavior?

I didn't mean for this to be a duplicate post.  I am sort of new to this system.  It is certainly a distinct problem I am trying to solve, in relation to other posts.
